About Alfriston, East Dean & Friston
Our Sussex accommodation includes some gorgeous options in the idyllic villlages of the South Downs.
Alfriston, East Dean and Friston are set in the peaceful countryside of East Sussex, surrounded by excellent walking and cycling opportunities, including the popular Friston Forest and Seven Sisters Country Park.
The village square itself in East Dean, is steeped in history with one of the properties on the green believed to be the retirement place of the fictional character, Sherlock Holmes.
The green also boasts the Tiger Inn, which serves up tasty food – and on a sunny day you can enjoy food and drink in the alfresco dining area, overlooking the green. Perfect if you’ve got little ones with you who want to run off a bit of steam while you unwind.
If you feel like something more exotic, the Thai Terre restaurant on the green also has an impressive local reputation.
East Dean has a small selection of village shops, including a post office, hairdressers, grocery store, delicatessen and an award-winning butcher, as well as a doctor’s surgery. There is a weekly farmer’s market every Wednesday in the village hall from 10am-12.30pm.
Friston Church is picturesque and tranquil – a former refuge for fugitives in the smuggling era. The beaches at nearby Crowlink Gap remain known as ‘Smugglers Bottom’…
Buses run every ten minutes from both East Dean and Friston so you can explore the region from your Sussex accommodation.
We offer family-sized accommodation as short term rentals in the villages of Alfriston, East Dean and Friston, and one includes a swimming pool open during summer months.
